Barry Jenkins
Grandmaster
Grandmaster Barry L. Jenkins Sr. has dedicated more than 55 years to the study, practice, and instruction of the martial arts. Throughout his lifelong journey, he has earned recognition across multiple disciplines and has become widely respected for his practical, reality-based approach to self-defense, leadership, and martial arts instruction.
His credentials include a 9th Degree Black Belt in Kenpo, a 9th Degree Black Belt in Tracy’s Kenpo, an 8th Degree Black Belt in Okinawan Open Karate, and a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, recognized by Rickson Gracie’s Jiu-Jitsu Global Federation. He is also a certified instructor in Ip Man Wing Chun Kung Fu under Grandmaster Samuel Kwok and is officially recognized by the Hong Kong Ving Tsun Athletic Association. Grandmaster Jenkins is recognized as a Grandmaster in both Tracy’s Kenpo and Ip Man Wing Chun Kung Fu.
In addition to his primary systems, Grandmaster Jenkins has trained extensively in Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwon Do, Kali, Pa Kua, Shotokan Karate-Do, Tai Chi, and Shootfighting. This broad background has given him a comprehensive understanding of traditional martial arts, modern combat systems, grappling, striking, weapons training, and practical self-defense.
For more than 35 years, Grandmaster Jenkins has studied the teachings and concepts of Sigung Paul Vunak, one of the world’s foremost authorities on practical combat and Jeet Kune Do Concepts. He considers it one of the greatest honors of his martial arts career to have been personally awarded the rank of Senior Full Instructor by Sifu Paul Vunak. He was also personally appointed by Sigung Vunak to serve as Director of Operations and Director of the Progressive Fighting Systems Grappling Association, reflecting the trust placed in his leadership, experience, and technical expertise.
Grandmaster Jenkins’ lifelong commitment to excellence has earned him widespread recognition throughout the martial arts community. He has been inducted into several national and international Martial Arts Halls of Fame, including the prestigious Action Martial Arts Hall of Honors and the International Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Argentina. He is also the recipient of a distinguished G.O.A.T. Award, recognizing his lifetime achievements, leadership, and contributions to the martial arts. Throughout his career, he has received numerous additional honors and awards acknowledging his technical skill, dedication to preserving traditional martial arts, advancement of realistic self-defense training, and commitment to mentoring future generations of students and instructors.
As an instructor, Grandmaster Jenkins has trained numerous local and regional mixed martial arts champions, as well as members of government agencies, law enforcement departments, and other professional organizations. His teaching philosophy emphasizes practical skills that work under real-world conditions, with a strong focus on awareness, confidence, personal safety, and effective street-defense techniques.
Beyond the training floor, Grandmaster Jenkins appeared in the feature film Black Creek, starring martial arts legend Cynthia Rothrock, and is listed on IMDb as both an actor and producer.
Today, Grandmaster Jenkins continues to teach with the same passion that began more than five decades ago. His goal has never been merely to produce skilled martial artists, but to develop men, women, and children of character, courage, discipline, confidence, and integrity. Every class reflects his lifelong commitment to practical self-defense, traditional martial arts values, and the belief that true martial arts training can transform lives both on and off the mat.

Britt Skogstad
Master
Master Britt Skogstad began his martial arts training more than 50 years ago as a member of the U.S. Naval Academy Judo Club, where he developed a lifelong respect and love for the martial arts.
He currently holds a 5th Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Jiu-Jitsu and a 4th Degree Black Belt in Tracy’s Kenpo under Grandmaster Barry Jenkins. In addition to his primary focus in Kenpo, Master Skogstad has significant rank and training across multiple disciplines, including Judo, where he holds a brown belt; Pencak Silat, where he holds a green sash; Contemporary Jeet Kune Do, where he has earned Apprentice Instructor certification; Rapid Assault Tactics; and Wing Chun. He is also a lifetime member of the Samuel Kwok Wing Chun Martial Arts Association.
Master Skogstad has extensive experience in traditional weapons, including sword, bo, sai, and knife, as well as contemporary weapons training. During his military service, he qualified as an Expert Marksman in both pistol and rifle.
Commissioned in 1979, Master Skogstad served as an officer in the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Service for more than 26 years. Following his military service, he continued serving as a civilian with Military Sealift Command until his retirement in 2021.
Master Skogstad is honored to continue training and teaching the next generation of martial artists under Grandmaster Barry Jenkins at Warrior Martial Arts.

Kenny Letner
Professor
Kenny has been training in martial arts for more than 35 years and brings a lifetime of discipline, service, and real-world experience to his instruction. He is a 20-year combat veteran who retired as a Navy Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman. During his military career, Kenny spent 13 years serving with the United States Marines, where he trained in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program.
In addition to his military martial arts background, Kenny has trained extensively in Isshin-Ryu Karate-do and has continued to expand his knowledge across multiple systems. Most recently, he was awarded an Apprentice Instructorship in Contemporary Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Martial Arts under Sifu Barry Jenkins. He has also earned his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Sifu Barry Jenkins describes Kenny as “a modern-day warrior,” recognizing his vast applied knowledge in both armed and unarmed combat. Kenny is an accomplished marksman and is as comfortable with practical weapons training as he is with traditional martial arts tools.
As an instructor, Kenny brings together military experience, martial arts skill, and a deep commitment to helping students develop confidence, discipline, and practical self-defense ability. He represents the spirit of a true martial artist through service, dedication, and lifelong training.

Frank Cole
Professor
Sifu Frank Cole has been involved in martial arts for more than 25 years and brings a strong foundation of discipline, dedication, and practical training to his instruction. He earned his second-degree black belt in Kenpo Jiu-Jitsu under Sifu Barry Jenkins Sr. and has also earned his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
In addition to his grappling and Kenpo Jiu-Jitsu background, Sifu Cole has developed extensive knowledge in various Chinese martial arts, including Tai Chi, Iron Palm, and Iron Bridge training. He has studied under Sifu Barry Jenkins Sr. for many years, continuing to grow in both traditional martial arts and modern combat applications.
In April 2014, Sifu Cole earned his Apprentice Instructor certification under the legendary Sifu Paul Vunak and the world-renowned Progressive Fighting Systems. In June 2015, he was awarded his Phase One certification in Contemporary Jeet Kune Do from Senior Instructor Sifu Barry Jenkins.
Committed to embracing the realities of modern self-defense, Sifu Cole has also received instruction in tactical shooting and medical training as part of his continued development as a well-rounded martial artist. As an instructor, he brings together traditional martial arts knowledge, practical combat training, and a passion for helping students develop skill, confidence, and discipline.

Mark Guyer
Sifu
Mark Guyer brings more than 25 years of law enforcement experience to his role as an instructor, including the past 22 years serving with the Virginia State Police. Throughout his career, he has dedicated himself to protecting others through professionalism, discipline, and service. For the last 11 years, Mark has served as a Bomb Technician with the Virginia State Police Bomb Squad, participating in numerous high-profile operations and protective details, including security assignments for multiple Presidents of the United States.
Mark began his martial arts journey five years ago, driven by a commitment to continuous learning, personal development, and practical self-defense. Since then, he has pursued extensive instructor training in both Jeet Kune Do and Ip Man’s Wing Chun Kung Fu, earning multiple certifications and developing skills rooted in real-world application.
In Jeet Kune Do, Mark earned Apprentice Instructor certification in 2022, Phase One Instructor certification in 2024, Level 2 Instructor in Edged Weapons in 2024, and Rapid Assault Tactics Instructor certification in 2024. Within Ip Man’s Wing Chun Kung Fu, he achieved Level 1 Instructor in Siu Nim Tao in 2023, Level 2 Instructor in Chum Kiu in 2024, and Level 3 Instructor in Muk Yan Jong in 2025.
In 2024, Mark became a Lifetime Member of the Samuel Kwok Wing Chun Martial Arts Association. In 2025, he was honored to be accepted as an Indoor Disciple under Grandmaster Barry Jenkins. That same year, Grandmaster Samuel Kwok bestowed upon him his family name within the Wing Chun lineage — an exceptional honor reflecting trust, dedication, and a deep commitment to preserving the traditions and values of the art.
As an instructor, Mark combines decades of real-world law enforcement experience with advanced martial arts and weapons training to provide practical, effective self-defense instruction. His goal is to help students build confidence, develop sound defensive skills, and cultivate the discipline, awareness, and mindset necessary to protect themselves and those around them.

Danielle Curling
BJJ Coach
Danielle has been training in martial arts for five years and brings a heart for mentorship, discipline, and personal growth to the Warrior Martial Arts community. Outside of the academy, she is a stay-at-home, homeschooling mother of three sons, two of whom train in WMA’s youth and adult programs.
Danielle serves as the Youth Director at Warrior Martial Arts and holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. She is passionate about working with children and thrives on watching young students learn, grow, build confidence, and develop character through martial arts.
In August 2024, Danielle earned her Apprentice Instructor certification in Jeet Kune Do, Level 1 Instructor certification in Edged Weapons, and Certified Instructor certification in Rapid Assault Tactics. In August 2025, she was also certified as an Advanced Instructor in the martial art of Muay Thai.
As both an instructor and youth leader, Danielle is dedicated to creating a positive, encouraging environment where students can grow in skill, confidence, discipline, and respect.

Katie Bryant
BJJ Coach
Katie has had a passion for martial arts since childhood. She began training under Curtis Bush at a young age and later spent several years developing her skills through kickboxing. Her continued love for martial arts eventually brought her to Warrior Martial Arts, where she now trains under Grandmaster Barry Jenkins.
Through her training, Katie has earned multiple certifications and accomplishments, including Escape to Gain Safety certification, Certified Women’s Self-Defense Instructor, Certified Weapons Instructor, Apprentice Instructor in Jeet Kune Do, and certifications in Wing Chun Siu Nim Tao and Chum Kiu. She is also a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and serves as a Youth BJJ Coach.
Katie is passionate about helping students build confidence, strength, awareness, and practical self-defense skills in a supportive environment.

Kayden Curling
BJJ Coach
Kayden Curling has shown exceptional dedication and discipline in his martial arts journey. Training under Grandmaster Barry Jenkins, Kayden became the youngest student to ever receive the title of Jeet Kune Do Apprentice Instructor, an accomplishment that reflects his commitment, skill, and maturity as a martial artist.
In addition to his Jeet Kune Do training, Kayden is a Certified Weapons Fighter and has earned certification in Wing Chun Siu Nim Tao. He is also a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and serves as a Children’s BJJ Coach, helping younger students develop confidence, discipline, and strong foundational skills on the mat.
Kayden brings focus, determination, and a passion for martial arts to every class. As both a student and coach, he continues to grow while encouraging others to work hard, stay disciplined, and believe in their own potential.
